Intel would release Rocket Lake-S desktop procs in March 2021 (updated)

The successor to the current Intel desktop lineup will be Rocket Lake-S, bringing PCIe Gen 4 to the processors. According to a new slide, Rocket Lake-S is scheduled for release at the end of March next year.

In addition to the eleventh generation Core processors, new chipsets will also be released, including Z590, H570, B560, and H510. A W580 chipset, which is aimed at workstations, will follow in April. According to HD-Technologica, Rocket Lake-S will use the lga1200 socket (no surprise there) with the mobos launching in march 2021. This means that both the current tenth and eleventh generation desktop chips would be compatible with 400 and 500 series motherboards. Other then the slide with the info on a late Q1 2021 release, nothing new is reported. There would be no plans for a HEDT platform anytime soon.

The Rocket-Lake proc series would max out at an 8-core/16-thread configuration with TDP at 125W.

Update: in a blog post from Intel they stated, the eleventh generation of desktop processors will arrive in the first quarter of next year. In addition, it is rumored that Rocket Lake will support PCI-Express 4.0. The company will reveal more information in the near future:

Rocket Lake is Coming
Our 10th Gen Intel Core processors continue to provide excellent performance and a stable platform for even the most demanding games. Ultimately, I believe there’s a great 10th Gen option that addresses the needs for every type of gamer — from casual players, to the most dedicated and passionate enthusiasts.
Though as you’d expect, we’re constantly looking ahead at what’s next and how we can make our desktop CPUs even better. With that said, I’m also happy to confirm that the next generation 11th Gen Intel Core desktop processors (codenamed “Rocket Lake”) is coming in the first quarter of 2021 and will provide support for PCIe 4.0. It’ll be another fantastic processor for gaming, and we’re excited to disclose more details in the near future. There’s a lot more to come, so stay tuned!

Still at 14nm? I guess Intel is still going for that single core performance, but I didn't knew they would still be at 14nm in 2021.

I guess I will go for AMD 5000 series Gen 3 end of this year. First time going from intel 4790K@4.8Ghz, so 5 years ago. So i Need a good x570 mobo and good ram to go with it? Any recommendations?

B550 is also good option , Gigabyte and MSI has excellet mobos. You wont use crossfire anyway.

Can't believe how late this is coming, Zen3 will have been out for about 5 months by the time this launches. Only die hard Intel fans will wait to upgrade or build a new system anyone with any sense will go Zen3. At least its the last of 14nm, 10nm Superfin all the way after this. Although that'll probably be around the time AMD launch Zen4 on 5nm and DDR5 lol
