Intel announced that the 300 series chipsets will be discontinued starting in January of next year. This includes Z390, Z370, H370, B360, H310, B365, H310D motherboards.

Intel had already discontinued its ninth generation of processors, based on the LGA1151 socket. Now, the discontinuation of 300 series motherboards means that we will effectively no longer see any more CPUs based on this socket in the future.

The company is expected to announce its 500 series motherboards next week at CES 2021. These will be compatible with the 10th generation of processors (Comet Lake-S), as well as the new Rocket Lake- S 11th generation. However, only newer Intel processors will benefit from the PCIe Gen 4 interface standard.
