Intel is to drop some desktop PC CPU prices 10-20% yet also plans to launch new desktop PC processors while reducing some models' prices in April, May and July this year. Average price reductions will be around 10-20%, according to sources at motherboard makers.

Two new quad cores are spotted, the Q8400 en Q8400S both at 2,66 GHz with 4MB L2 cache memory. The S version will likely have a lower TDP at 65 Watt.

For May 31 Intel plans two new core i7 processors. The Core i7 975 will be clocked at 3,22 GHz and the Core i7 950 at 3,06 GHz. Also spotted in May is the E7600 Core 2 Dup processor at 3,06 GHz with 3MB L2-cache.
