Intel to announce NVMe PCIe SSD Storage Devices

Intel to announce NVMe PCIe SSD Storage Devices

Intel will present a new generation of SSD Storage Devices on Computex this year. Initially targeted at the server market they will launch their NVM Express (Non-Volatile Memory Host Controller Interface Specification) products, these are PCIe based SSDs that will offer high levels of read and write speed.

Now the following bit is a bit of a rumor, but it is mentioned that these products can manage sequential read speeds up to 3000 MB / s. With IOPS (input / output operations per second) reaching 750,000 (!)

Intel will release SSD-drives in the form of PCIe expansion cards and later on the 2.5-inch form factor. In the second phase you will see these products implemented with a SFF-8639 connector (Sata Express). We'll see a move from SATA to SATA Express to the SFF-8639 connector over the next few years.

Here are the leaked slides.
