Intel Skylake Processors available in 2H 2015 get DDR3 and DDR4 support
A roadmap appeared on the web earlier yesterday showing some interesting information regarding Intel Skylake Processors. They are to be released in 2015 and Skylake processors would have both DDR3 and DDR4 memory controllers. The processor will be combined with a series 100 Intel chipset. Skylake processors would be compatible with the latest LGA 1151 socketed boards and Z170 chipset which is part of the new 100-Series chipset.
Skylake, as well as Broadwell will be baked using 14-nanometer technology. The new processors will get enhanced graphics controllers, and further improvements on energy consumption.
Earlier rumors also indicated that Skylake would get four types of wireless communication: Snowfield Peak-enabled Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Douglas Peak supporting WiGig and Bluetooth, Pine Peak networks WiGig XMM726x networks and 4G LTE. As it stands right now, Skylake willbe reaching the market in the second half of 2015, alongside Broadwell.

I think there might be a typo in the article. It says the Z170 chipset, I believe it is meant to be Z107

2015/2016 looks potentially interesting with Skylake, and AMD's successor to Bulldozer series (including Piledriver, Steamroller and yet to be released Excavator) coming out. Let's just hope AMD makes something special, because not only do they need to make a processor that's much faster than Intel to get people even intrigued into buying it, there needs to be real competitor to Intel. Apparently AMD haven't left the top end market, they have probably come to the realisation that strong top end processors can help sell low end processors.
