Intel shaves off prices on some processors

Intel has cut prices on a range of mainstream and value-oriented Core 2 and Pentium processors. While pricing on higher-end quad-core Core i7 and Core 2 Quad CPUs carry over unchanged:

  • Intel's Q9400 and Q9300 saw a 14% cut, down from $213 to $183,
  • Their entry-level the Q8400 and Q8300 quad-core CPUs with 4MB of L2 cache had their prices reduced 11% from $183 to $163. Low power variants of the Q9400 and Q8400 also saw cuts.
  • The Core 2 Duo E7500's price from $133 to $113, a reduction of 15%.
  • Pentium CPUs -- E6300 from $84 to $81, while the E5400 and E5300 saw cuts of 12% and 14% respectively, and are now priced at $74 and $64.
