Intel reportedly reserved $ 3 billion in 2019 to competitively block AMD
Intel has been reserving 3 billion dollars aside to offer 'discounts' to its customers, and there actually is a photo to back that claim. The recent official unveiling of Cascade Lake X might already the result of that program as the CPUs are selling twice as low per core compared to the chips from Intel's previous generation.
It is Youtube channel Adored TV that explains in a video a slide what exactly Intel would be doing in order to be a stronger party than AMD, and that is injecting money to create discounts that make sure their customers buy intel processors.
It is quite an accusation based on one slide to be honest. If correct, Intel just in 2019 spend three billion US dollars in that program. The money would be used for example for price reductions. Intel names this 3B program the "2019 meet comp discount," Intel's net profit in 2018 was just over USD 21 billion alone. Next to the price reduction on the recent procs, you also need to think bigger. Such money is probably being spent lowering Xeon contract prices to large customers, which has been rumored for some time
The intended effect if the 3B reservation would include price reductions that would make AMD less profitable. According to the slide, Intel in 2019 is to provide ten times as much money for the competition - The slide is labeled " Intel's Scale Advantage ... Financial Horsepower". Even if the accusation was not made directly, if true it is Intel's using its monopoly against the competition.
A disclaimer, the authenticity of the slide cannot be guaranteed. There is currently no evidence of illegal activities nor is it certain that the slides of Adored TV are genuine, or even from Intel at all.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/dda0yy/freesync-monitors-are-actively-being-advertised/
In the above thread, FreeSync monitors from large manufacturers prominently display G-Sync or G-Sync compatible (FreeSync is only mentioned briefly, if at all). This is what I'm talking about - not all FreeSync monitors prominently advertise FreeSync, and many of the ones that are certified for G-Sync compatible prioritize the G-Sync aspect over FreeSync.

The first comment pretty much is what my response would be to this.
They should go to that page to be sure the panel the are buying for their Radeon has passed quality tests.

There's really no need for name calling.
People need to learn to stick to the thread topics. Sometimes it seems like people come here just to start crap for no reason. There's absolutely no need to bring Intel and NVidia into AMD related news/rumor threads. There's no need to bring AMD and NVidia into Intel related news/rumor threads. There's no need to bring AMD and Intel into NVidia related news/rumor threads. It's really not that hard to stick to the thread topic and leave other companies and their products out of it. That's a large part of what's wrong with the world. People have this incessant need to start crap constantly, then everyone ends up getting their feelings hurt and screaming victim.

It'd help a lot of various price aggregators and online shops made that an option, agreed
For the moment the ones I tend to use don't make a distinction between 'G-Sync' and 'G-Sync compatible', which makes this particular situation more gnarly than it have to be. I reckon it's a bit of a chicken-vs-egg problem, most of the information in these are crowd-sourced and the people adding the information might not always know themselves.
There's also some minor technical limitations I think, usually sites have something like a 'VRR' or 'Adaptive Sync' category with a space for a single entry. Ie. it's difficult to add a product that supports both G-Sync and FreeSync.
Hopefully that part of the equation gets fixed soon though.
Oh, absolutely!
That, to me, has never been the question though. It's about what happens when someone who's looking for a FreeSync display sees 'G-Sync Compatible' or even just 'G-Sync' listed for a monitor that's, technically, FreeSync.
My point is that the monitors in question should be clearly labeled with both "FreeSync"/"FreeSync 2" and "G-Sync Compatible". IMO it's the only thing that makes sense and actually helps consumers find what they're looking for.
And in that case yes, I absolutely believe prominently displaying both stickers would lead to more sales than choosing either over the other.
Yes, I agree with what you said. And I too thought about it after my last post, putting both stickers / labels on the box would be the best for everybody, especially the consumer. But... I'm afraid, that's where the GPU manufacturers might try to influence the monitor manufacturers... since I have to say I'm afraid Nvidia wouldn't like a sticker on the box with "AMD Freesync 2" next to "Gsync compatible". Since, alphabetically, AMD's would be first / on top

And I like how we didn't have to call each other names etc. Cheers @Exodite *looks at other discussions in this thread*

You say it isnt about fanboyism, still you bring up hating nvidia, amd victims, etc every time to try to make a point..
You claim i hate nvidia twice, adore is a amd chill, you keep playing the fanboy card. I know your naive, or worse. Fanboy pointing finger, and yelling hate when your brand is criticised.
Well, considering im hating nvidia, probably crying for poor amd in your mind.
Your the mindless consumer that makes it possible for companies like intel and nvidia, apple, etc, to do what they done, more than once. And they will keep doing it because people like you think its ok, you even support it and defend it. You are loyal to your brand, even so if you most likely are on the loosing side of it from a consumers perspective.
If you where less focused on throwing out these stupid labels, you would realize the strategy nvidia is using and have used for some time dosent get better if they suddenly became amd, or intel, apple, google, amazon. Its about the practice, and what it can lead to.
Hate has nothing to do with it for a company to be criticizing them for bad or "shady" practices that can turn out to be bad for us consumers, or marked competition by misusing their marked position. If you cant understand that, you are a mindless fanboy screaming "hate" "crybabies" like you done, ironically when you at the same time state it has nothing to do with fanboyism.. You love to bring it up..
