Intel Processor Market Share is on the Ryzen again

Pardon the lame pun in the headline. But yes, it seems that Intel's market share is slowly recovering. Mercury Research stresses that this happens for both desktop and laptop segments. AMD continues to gain market share in the server market slowly.

Mercury Research claims that the total value of the x86 market is up by as much as 20.1% over the course of last year's fourth quarter. That is the highest growth in ten years. AMD's market share has declined; however, both processor manufacturers have sold more. So it's not that AMD does not sell well, they just can't output the same numbers in volume the Intel can.

The declining numbers can be explained by what we all have been facing for a long time now ... shortages. AMD is struggling to keep up with the high. CEO Lisa Su already mentioned shortages will continue during the first half of the year. Intel has the advantage of owning its own chip plants, making them less dependent on external manufacturers like TSMC and Samsung.
