Intel Optane 905P with 1.5 TB Is Released (updated)

Intel Optane 905P with 1.5 TB Is Released (updated)

Intel is now offering an update to the Optane 900P, the Optane 905P with 1.5TB storage. That makes three storage versions and one PCIe SSD with Intel logo Blue colored LEDs, the other a U2 model.

It seems that the volume sizes will be different from the current 900p models, the specs for the Optane SSD 905P overall are also slightly different. Among things, the Idle power consumptions will be rising from 2 towards 7 Watts, which is not a good thing at all. Deeper specs for performance and precise volume sizes, however, are lacking at this time aside for a mentioned 960GB (at ~1349 USD) and 480GB (at ~599 USD) model. Though pricing is not listed we can do the math easily, expect it to be 2099 ~ 2299 USD.

From the tests I've seen Optane is quite impressive but that price continues to be a important factor though it'll be fun to see reviews of these new models once they're available. :)
(Hampered a bit by Intel being a bit indifferent to Europe and sending stuff over here for review purposes though as I understand it.)

i'm in love with the
potential
of Optane. the reality at these ridiculous prices is another. and that power rating is scorching for an M.2 for those without one of the new mobos with beefy heat sinks.

So these things are SSD's? I didn't even know what the hell optane was. Figured it was just some seriously overpriced server tech being pushed on consumers. Oh wait...

If you don't want it or need it, don't buy it ;)

For me, 900p is perfect and I love it :)
