So they've squeezed it so hard that it will last only one year?

@
except almost everyone (as in+80% on this planet) will be better of getting a bigger gpu if they dont own something like a 2080/ti.
e.g. getting this cpu and pairing it with anything lower than 2070S would be a waste of money, as gains on the gpu side will be much bigger.
Only ~50€ difference between 3700X and 9700K, and 9700K is a better in gaming CPU. You make it sound like AMD is a charity and their CPUs are free, lol.

nope, never said that nor hinted it..
my problem is with ppl just posting "its the best..", when almost every normal user will be better off upgrading their gpu first.
and those (as in most here) that have a +500$ gpu and the ecosystem to support such cpu (board/cooling/power), know already what it is.
no one interested in the top tier 1 hardware will buy something, only because some posted "its the best..",
but most that dont know better, will just glance over posts (below reviews) and decide to spend lots of cash for less return (in perf),
than they could have gotten with upgrades on other parts.
lets say the "best" car is a +500HP RWD two door sports car.
now drop it into 5ft of snow in Alaska. Still think its the best? nope, and even a 20y old pickup with 4WD would outperform it..

Not even... it's only a binned one that can goes up to 5.0 all core
the good news is the price of the 3rd part binned one that goes up to 5.0 are more expensive than this SE.
I would have bought 8086k for the name (same as the Pentium G3258 anniversary) but this one doesn't even have a legend's name.
Also you can buy the "normal one" for less money and OC it yourself if you don't reach the 5.0 on all core you will get more over stock clock...
I will not add "or you can get a Ryzen" for 2 reason:
- It's an Intel info and so fanboy would launch the Spanish Holly Intel Inquisition on me (same as you post intel on AMD news) lol
- Right now there is not enough 3900X in shop (out of stock since 2 week after the launch, i am on the waiting list).
Good luck with Intel XD
