Intel Now Listing Cascade lake 28 Core Xeon processor in ARK (and nine others)
Alongside the Apple Mac Pro announcement, Intel has launched their second-generation Xeon W processors. In total, nine new Cascade Lake workstation processors were launched.
All processors have the same features including AVX-512 support with 2 FMA units as well as support for up to 1 TiB of hexa-channel DDR4-2933 memory. There are two additional “M”-suffixed SKUs which have 2 TiB extended memory support. The maximum TDP has been changed to 205 W (255 W for Xeon W-3175X), and the memory has been changed to DDR4-2933/2 TB maximum.
PCI-Express 3.0 lane is up to 64, memory channel is 6 channels. In addition, a total of nine models will be prepared, starting with the 28-core / 56-thread "W-3275M".
A new feature that Intel added to the 3200-series is Turbo Boost Max 3.0. Interestingly, according to Ark, none support Optane DC Persistent Memory. Currently, Ark also lists those processors as having 64 PCIe lanes instead of 48 like all other Xeons. We suspect this is a typo and we are currently awaiting a response from Intel.
