An interview with ASCII.jp, a popular Japanese tech magazine, was recently conducted by Intel's SVP. The interview was brief and covered Xe HPC, Ponte Vecchio, Xe Link, ray tracing for HPC, and the Aurora supercomputer. Intel's intentions for consumer graphics card reference and bespoke designs were revealed, as well as Xe HPG and Arc Alchemist.

According to the interview, Intel has already made its Arc Alchemist reference designs available to graphics card partners. However, there are still many unknowns at this stage. Determining whether Intel will promote its reference designs as "Founders Edition" products is unclear. Also, it appears Intel is allowing partners to differentiate in many ways, with differing GPU power targeting different market segments. Koduri stated that AIB partners will design a blend that is appealing to both parties.

Koduri revealed that outdated graphics architectures like Tiger Lake iGPUs and Iris Xe / DG1 may use XeSS. Xe-HPG will not support Xe-Link for multi-GPU systems. This confirms Intel won't be targeting customers with some sort of SLI/CrossFire. Koduri also discussed the choice of TSMC N6 for Xe-HPG GPUs. With ADL parts in high demand, it appears that 'Intel 7' will not have extra capacity. The Japanese source claims that Battlemage (Alchemist's successor) will be made by TSMC and will be a N5 or N4 product.
