Intel discontinues 8th Gen Core Coffee Lake 8xxx series processors

They had a good run, and it's time to let them go. Intel will be discontinuing (EOL) some Coffee Lake 8xxx in the Celeron, Pentium, Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 ranges.

Intel shares this information in a product notification today (thanks SOTN for the news submit btw). Orders are Non-Cancelable and Non-Returnable After December 18, 2020 and the Last Product Discontinuance Shipment Date will be June 4, 2021. So yeah, if you still wanted one, no rush ;)

Well, the biggest difference is the price. Intel is allergic to reducing prices of older products, so since (for example) the 8700K is basically an immensely overpriced 10600K, what's the point of making 8th gen products that are assuredly going to sell worse?
I'm not sure if Intel is still struggling to keep up with stock but if they are, the 8th gen is just a distraction.

I rather like the 8300H in my Dell G3. Way better than the 6300H in my Dell 7559
