Intel Core i7 Broadwell-E HEDT Chips Delayed to 2016
Thye next gen enthusiast platform Broadwell-E chips, e.g. upcoming processors like the Core i7 6960X - 6930K and 6820K have a renewed launch date. That would be in one to two years from now in 2016 according to the Chinese VR-Zone. These upcoming 14nm processors are developed under codename "Broadwell-E" with a LGA2011v3 socket package.
The processors should be compatible with motherboards based on Intel's X99 Express chipset (after firmware updates). The HEDT CPUs will feature six to eight cores and would get up to 20MB of cache. Obviously these processors will support quad-channel DDR4 memory. According to the latest rumor Intel plans to start supplying pre-ES samples of the “Broadwell-E” to partners in the second quarter of 2015, engineering samples (ES).

That depends on what games you play, too, but imho I guess you can still wait for Skylake. Maybe our more veteran users here will have better insight though.

And probably Z87 as well, but intel won't confirm it just yet.. Ok Intel CEO said it back in September 2013, but then they quickly changed their mind @ DC IDF march 2014, saying nope no DevilsCanyon for Z87 and well know now that's not true.
Both platforms use PCH Z87 as base, Z97 has only few extras in IMEI, nothing serious that it won't make Z87 BD compatible. You will see

But then again I won't update to it, this atm @ 4.7ghz is plenty for me, well I probably would if it was a bad OC'er ~4.2ghz max..
I think my next chip will be Skylake-E with 8cores, so the thing after X99 chipset, X179?

Ehh, my X79 is still good, so no worry here. Intel has no competition so no surprise here.
