Intel Arc A380 Performs Pretty Bad with AMD CPUs

Intel Arc A380 Performs Pretty Bad with AMD CPUs

A recent set of benchmarks found on bilibili, Intel's Arc A380 cards perform more rancid with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 than with an Core i5-12400 CPU. The card was tested on an ASUS TUF B550M motherboard with 16 GB of DDR4 3600 MHz RAM.

Both test platforms enable auto-resizable BARs and 4G decoding. Both machines were running Windows 11 21H2. With the exception of League of Legends, AMD trailed Intel by 1% to 15% in every of the 10 gamer. Forza Horizon 5 and Total War: Three Kingdoms trailed by 14 to 15%. League of Legends, Dota 2, Rainbow 6 Extraction, Watch Dogs Legions, Far Cry 6, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Total War Three Kingdoms,

Shadow of the Tomb Raider, CS:GO, and Forza Horizon 5 were all put through rigorous testing. An NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 was also tested, but solely on the Intel-based machine, and the Arc A380 outperformed it by 7% in Total War Three Kingdoms. Combining Intel Arc graphics cards and AMD processors appears to be a bad idea (for the time being).

Also isn't 1-10% the generic edge higher speed clocked intels have on amd?

It's an entry level graphics card. A toaster could run it at 100%. It shouldn't be CPU bottlenecked, aside from the driver side, unless something is seriously wrong about it. If it's somehow incompatible with AMD hardware wise, then it's certainly a questionable and risky decision from Intel, who is trying to enter the market from no previous position whatsoever.

Considering all the delays, Intel is likely very far behind in terms of optimization. They likely have only been optimizing on their own platforms first. It would be absurd if they chose to let it perform worse on AMD, since anyone who isn't an Intel shill would see right through that and know that the CPU is not the problem.

Is this caused by Microsoft? There was an article sometime back with Windows 11 issues with AMD. There was discussions about some shenanigan's with Microsoft & Intel against AMD.The great thing about history news is that it can show a pattern as time goes on. History is a great puzzle to questions. Sometimes it's meaning less sometimes not. Sorry for this odd crazy ramble.

This would be a mistake on Intel's part if they do not try and fix it.

I would not buy a GPU that did not run ~equally well on either cpu platform.
