Cyberpunk 2077 / GeForce RTX 4090 runs up to 2850 MHz / 50C temperatures

Cyberpunk 2077 / GeForce RTX 4090 runs up to 2850 MHz / 50C temperatures

Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p on its crazy settings preset, with DLSS, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 apparently boosts up to 2.8 GHz (2810 to 2850 MHz) at factory settings.

The RTX 4090 achieves 59 frames per second at native resolution (49 at 1% lows) with a 72–75 milliseconds frame time. Graphics processing unit (GPU) temperatures are observed in the region of 50 to 55 °C. The average latency drops to 53 ms and the frame rate increases by nearly twice to 119 FPS (1% lows) when DLSS 3 is activated. Since latency has been cut in half, this amounts to a net increase of two times the frame rate. It is also claimed that the energy consumption has been cut down considerably. DLSS "quality" 3 reduces power consumption by 25%, from 461 W while rendering at native resolution to 348 W.

The shift in workload from the FP32 cores to the tensor cores, which execute the DLSS algorithms, likely contributes to the power numbers. Instead of using the entire GPU for brute force, which is inefficient and drains more power, the specialized tensor cores at these talks can analyze the data far more quickly and efficiently, all while using less power. We can't wait to get our hands on some review samples of DLSS 3 and see if it truly is a game-changer.

Might be that they don't have the tech to interconnect 2 chips down 100 % yet. Will be interesting to see what they will be able to do once it’s ready.

I think the latency issue has a lot to do with it, but it's still huge for the industry moving forward. I'm very keen to see how it progresses. The temps alone should make a massive difference with MCM. Their yields must be very good, so price of these high end cards could be part of the reason why 4090 is reasonably priced, but everything below it is way overpriced.

I agree... if nvidia felt extremely confident about their situation and their competition with amd, the 4090 would have been priced higher.
And honestly, non of the "4080" cards are proper x80 cards. It's more like x70 and x60.

Which case is that ?

I went with the ROG Strix Helios because I really like the look. The cooling is nice and I have a nice place for it.

Honestly though, the HAF 700 Evo is a truly nice case that has my attention. It's pricey but that case will last one for many many years. It's a behemoth but I've always had big cases for my builds.

I went prebuilt in 2020 because of the price, promotion and getting a 3090 for cheap.

The helios is a very nice case - gz on that :) (though i would personally be worried about front intake fans being choked by being smack against the front panel glass)

As for the haf 700 evo, it's fair bit smaller than my cosmos 2 :p But it obviously has several advantages - having 2x360mm rads in top, so you could have both cpu and gpu aio there where they wont heat up the inside of the case is very nice ! The Cosmos 2 is a very old case at this point, but it has been modded quite a bit inside over the years, to maximize airflow (removed everything restricting airflow, and have 1x 200 mm front intake for the gpu, 2x 120 mm side intake for the gpu, 1x 140mm rear exhaust and 3x 120mm exhaust in the top)... but yes, i prefer big cases aswell - big cases makes it much easier to cool highend hardware !

I just researched the Cosmos 2. Very attractive with tons of airflow. Extremely nice case indeed. It has everything. The Helios I found is the Gundam version. I have a soft spot for Robotech and Gundam. I have a few days left if I decide to return it. The Haf 700 is grabbing my attention because I like the design. That is a Cosmos level case.

So are you saying you personally have 9 fans or the case is capable? If so, you have some serious airflow.
