HTC Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for One X on october

Word spreads around that the HTC One X Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update roll out will begin at some point in October, first coming to unbranded versions and then heading to carrier-branded versions by the end of the year. Since HTC is not in complete control of the roll-out, some carrier-branded units may only get the update by the end of the year. In fact, that’s probably exactly what’s going to happen considering mobile operator’s reliability and willingness to push out timely Android updates.

If you’re using a generic device you don’t have too long to wait. HTC will be starting the rollout in October for generic devices with rollout to all devices (including operator branded units) set for completion before Christmas (subject to operator / Google approvals etc. of course). MoDaCo also reports that the rumored One X+ will come with Android 4.1 preloaded, just like Everything Everywhere’s HTC One XL.

We’ll be back with more detailed information on the HTC One X Jelly Bean update once we have it, but in the mean time you’ll just have to sit tight and wait. As for the One S, there aren’t any Jelly Bean news yet.
