How to disable GTX 580 Power Throttling

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/15/2010 01:04 PM | source: | 0 comment(s)

As you guys know and have been explained in our article, NVIDIA added programmable ICs on their latest GTX 580 cards to detect software like FurMark and OCCT. When the driver detects that software, it will clock down the GPU and jump into some sort of failsafe mode.

Good news, Michael from GPU-Z has a solve with the usage of merely his application.  Use the command-line argument for GPU-Z "/GTX580OCP".

Start the GPU-Z executable (within Windows, using Command Prompt or shortcut), using that argument, and it will disable the clock speed throttling mechanism. For example, "X:gpuz.exe /GTX580OCP" It will stay disabled for the remainder of the session, you can close GPU-Z. It will be enabled again on the next boot.
