High inventory to result in tablet price cuts?

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/22/2011 01:09 PM | source: | 0 comment(s)
Right after Christmas might be good to finally pick up a tablet, global inventory of Android tablets is expected to be pretty high after the holiday season, which will likely result in price cuts as vendors will want to clear out their inventory.
The global inventory volume of Android tablet PCs has been in a high level of 3-4 million units according to estimates by IDC, and the inventory problem will appear be significant after the 2011 year-end peak sales period, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

The high inventory level is partly due to the launch of Kindle Fire by Amazon and Nook Tablet by Barnes & Noble, the sources indicated. Chairman Richard Lee for Inventec, the ODM of Nook Tablet, indicated that the 7-inch tablet PC has gained good market response and is expected to be selling from late 2011 to early 2012.
