Guru3D Rig of the Month - February 2018

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/27/2018 11:39 AM | source: | 17 comment(s)

The February edition of the Guru3D Rig of the month 2018 is here and David Quaranta aka DQ40 from beautiful Italy created a PC desktop .. no literally a desktop. He calls it Ophiophagous, similar to the name of the cobra, Ophiophagus Hanna from Greek "snake eater". A suitable name for this mod.

Check out this Guru3D Rig of the month 2018, right here.

Hilbert,

Where do you find those guys ?

Totally crazy, in a positive way. I love this stuff.

Are you going to find somebody who modded a truck to make its 40x 1080ti FE fit in ?

Very nice.

Would like to build one similar to this, for myself, one day.

Nice. 15,000 euros? The 2 gpus, CPU, mobo = probably less than 4000. Not sure If I can see 11,000 worth in the other parts.

The desk alone is about 1200 euros, and I'm not sure if that includes shipping. If the creator also includes some of the other custom mods, the displays, speakers, chair, accessories, and shipping costs, I could see the price going up close to 15000. But if we're just talking the PC alone, then yeah, something seems a little off.

It's amazing what astronomical amounts of money can buy.

I've seen many amazing PC builds over the years but this one definitely has to be in the top 3 of best ever. Beautiful in every way. I wish I had the time and money to build machine half a lovely as this.
Yes 15000 euros sounds alot but when you look at the component list and it doesn't surprise me. The graphic cards alone would cost around 1200 euros each. Plus another 500 euros plus for each hard drive. The price quickly adds up.

July 2011 Rig of the Month similar (desk based). Probably served as an inspiration.

Amazing rig but i don´t know how the creator can concentrate on what´s on with the screen with all the bright lights in front of him... As for the crazy price, if he can afford it then good for him.

And to think my rig it´s simply a system inside a cheap Phantek Eclipse case... Even worse there´s something making clicking sounds inside it and still didn´t find the cause for it...

Anyway, kudos for the great rig!

I like ASUS but that branding overkill makes the build look less impressive. Kinda looks like a retarded pinball machine. I'm always surprised at ppl's taste for pc hardware.

it's definitely cool but the branding all around it is a turn off.

Wow, 'overkill' is the first word that comes to mind! This would look good in a games room, and looks like it belongs in an arcade, but I couldn't have it just in any room of the house - it's pretty bold! I wonder if it's quiet with all those fans, I hope it is otherwise it would kind of defeat a large purpose of the build in my eyes. Impressive components and PC building on an epic scale!
