Hey, well this is a slick build! Perfect execution on a neatness level for sure. I like how you've got a soundcard in there, the AE-5, to me that's a proper gamer build - sound is just so important for both immersion as well as competition, and good 7.1 surround sound through headphones is an advantage for sure. I've really done my homework on audiophile and gamer sound and I think I've managed to marry the best of both worlds: I got SoundblasterX G6 + JDS Atom headphone amp + AKG K702 headphones - awesome reference quality sound for music and exquisite 7.1 surround sound from the soundblaster with the excellent soundstaging & detail of the AKG K702 headphone, I truly recommend this setup to anyone. I used audiosciencereview website to make my decisions on the audiophile aspects, basically it's this guy that's bought sound analysis equipment that costs 10's of thousands of dollars, and he writes reviews of DACs and AMPs after analysis on this equipment - manufacturers and users just send him the gear & he reviews them, it's the most thorough and scientific reviews I've seen on audio equipment and he combines it with subjective testing. Both the SoundblasterX G6 and the Atom Amp rated real high on his testing, especially the DAC portion of the Soundblaster which is why I connected it to a highly rated (& affordable) dedicated headphone amp (JDS Atom) - so I got the best of both worlds: proper 7.1 virtualised headphone surround sent out to the clean amplification of the JDS Atom.
After using my headphones on multiple sources, I can confirm that your headphone amp is probably gonna be your most important purchase after your decision on your initial headphone purchase, then DAC comes third in importance - do it right!
