Guru3D 2016 December 19 contest - MSI GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR 6G OC

In December here on Guru3D we will give away nice prizes. That means every day up-to December 31st you will have a chance of winning something. Today we give away a MSI GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR 6G OC . Check out below the fold what you need to do to be eligible to win this product.

Every year during Christmas we give away some cool stuff, this year we are expanding as a thank you to everybody that disabled their ad-blocker. So yes, this is a thank you from Guru3D.com: this is our way of expressing our sincere respect for disabling that ad-blocker on Guru3D.com. We'll hand out a prize every day up-to the 31st of December 2016.

December 19: Win a MSI GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR 6G OC

Game in style & dare to be different with MSI’s unique ARMOR graphics cards. Inspired by advanced armor shielding with a classy black & white finish. ARMOR graphics cards are perfect for gamers and case modders who are looking for something different. This is where gaming meets class. The graphics card is the value model, but still manages to impress. The temperature of this card will sit at 65 degrees C under full load, and just remains incredibly silent. Next to that the card has been factory tweaked for you to a boost clock of 1759 MHz. The card is fitted with just a 6-pin power connector but we'll still pass the 2.0 GHz marker when we tweak this feisty unit.

Please visit the manufacturer product page here or our review here.

How to join the contest

To participate in this competition what you need to do is, answer the following questions.

  1. What was the generic Time Spy score for this card in our review?
  2. How many transistors does the GP106-A1 GPU have?
  3. What is the thermal image GPU temperature for this card?

Here is a hint. You may email us (msi@guru3d.com) your answers with the results (please include name / address / phone number for shipment). We'll pick a winner from all collected entries. The winner will get the product(s) shipped to you for free (worldwide).

Also (only if you want to) please give Guru3D.com a like or recommendation.

  • This contest runs one day and end December 21th, 2016 (Central European Time - 11:59 CEST)
  • Just one entry per person is allowed. Detected double entries will be disqualified.

The winners will be emailed in week 1 of 2017, on the Guru3D.com news page we'll note when that happens. We will contact the winner, by email only. There will be no dialog about this contest possible before and after closure.

I think the questions are intentionally ambiguous if you don't pay close attention to details and context.

This GPU would make a pretty decent replacement to my R9 290. The performance of the two are roughly the same, but this is so much more power efficient. I like my current GPU, but I'm in the process of upgrading my PC. My current one mostly keeps up just fine, but I want to upgrade to reduce power consumption and heat without losing performance or spending the majority of my monthly income.

I just received a free R9 290 from someone I play EVE online with (and GPU is hardly the bottleneck of my system anymore), but this would make a very nice re-gift for someone I know in need of a new graphics card.

Yeah, the 290 is a great GPU and it's a shame that the reference cooler gave it (and AMD for that matter) such a negative stigma; the outcome of the 390 is what the 290 should have been. So far the GPU plays everything I want at max detail, with a few caveats. Anti-aliasing sometimes needs to be lowered, there are a couple games that complained about there not being enough VRAM, and in Linux the drivers still have some catching up to do.

If I won the 1060 and was in a situation where I'd want to sell one of my GPUs, then I'd sell the 1060 since it'd be unused (and worth more in general). But as of right now, I wouldn't sell either since I still have uses for both.

Hope changing email in a process isn't serious, as pochta.ru announced to be shutdown next year.
