Rockstar Games announced last month that GTA VI is in production after years of speculation. According to video game expert Michael Pachter, production on GTA VI began in 2014. This lengthy production period is necessary due of the game's sheer magnitude.

According to its sources, GTA VI will showcase a variety of places from the franchise's prior installments. The game may be so large that it will take up to 500 hours to complete.

“There are naive people who think that Rockstar, with its 2,000 employees, is sitting on its back and bored… No, they are not. These guys are working hard to create amazing content, but GTA VI is going to take 10 years or more,” said Pachter.

According to the analyst, all of this development time is necessary since Rockstar would be developing an unparalleled environment that would not be comparable to previous Rockstar titles, but rather would unify all open world games developed. "The explanation is, in my opinion, a blend of Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City (later GTA III), and Europe, namely London," the analyst explains. He states that travel between these continents will be possible: "you will be able to visit anyplace on these continents and will have missions that will lead you there." "It's likely that 400 or 500 hours of gameplay will be required. It is precisely what they are doing today; that is precisely what they have transformed GTA VI into," Pachter continues.

According to Pachter, GTA VI will have an online component, like GTA V already does. "You will need to transport narcotics from London to Los Angeles via the port of Miami. You're going to be able to do all these awesome things," he says.
