Graphics cards jumped up 20% in price last month, trend remains upwards

3D Center compiled a chart that covers GPU costs in Austria and Germany. The findings showed that prices have increased while availability has reduced. NVIDIA GPUs are now selling for 70 percent more than their MSRP, compared to 59 percent in August. AMD graphics processing units (GPUs) are now 73 percent more expensive than they were last month.

As we've seen in the past, events such as COVID-19 and the bitcoin boom have had an impact on GPU demand and prices. Slowly but steadily, the prices rose, eroding further and further away from the intended pricing. Since January, there has been an overall increase in this figure. In May, we reached a high of more than 300 percent over NVIDIA's recommended pricing. This is due to a scarcity of graphics processing units (GPUs), although things appeared to be improving after that terrible tragedy. Prices began to fall as supply increased, providing a reason to be optimistic despite the current situation.

Unfortunately, the bad news began with reports of a September increase, as well as TSMC boosting the price of their 7nm manufacturing technology. That which had been rumored and anticipated has come to pass. Despite the fact that this investigation is limited to Austria and Germany, the numbers are likely to be applicable around the world. We've already seen NVIDIA attempt to alleviate shortages by repurposing damaged chips from other graphics processing units.
