Grab your free copy of Dead Space on PC

Grab your free copy of Dead Space on PC

Dead Space for Windows PC is free to grab through EA’s Origin service as part of the company’s “on the house” program. The game is 100 percent off for a limited time, so make sure you grab it before the promotion expires.

Dead Space is free on Origin right now, the latest in EA’s regular On the House series. Just claim it, and it’s yours forever. The only catch, such as it is, is having to install Origin, but that’s a small price to pay in order to enjoy the horrific adventures of Isaac Clarke. Once it’s in your library you can play it for as long as you have access to the service. Dead Space, which has been available once before via EA’s benevolence, follows the travails of engineer Isaac Clarke, whose rescue work on the Ishimura rapidly turns sour. The game turns 10 this year, so what better way to celebrate than by jumping back into Isaac’s clunky suit and dismembering a Necromorph or two?

Dead Space was released in 2008, so you won’t need a beefy gaming PC to run it, but it remains one of the best horror games released over the past decade.

Grab it here.

This game is a pretty shoddy console port. If you plan to play it check out this first:

Cool! Thanks for that heads-up. For some reason clicking on that link from the article page didn't work. But it is a good link. Weird. https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dead-Space

Interesting - Dead Space was one of the first games EA gave away when they started their "On the House" program. Have they already run out of games to give away?
Either way, it's still a nice gesture. Dead Space is a great game.

Some of that sound vaguely familiar to me. Overall I remember it played perfectly fine for me, albeit, I played it at 1080p@60Hz. In terms of shoddy console ports, I'd say this game is definitely on the better half.

- No in game AF
- Terrible in game AA
- 30fps with vsync on
- Game breaking bugs with vsync off
- Mouse acceleration that cannot be disabled in game
- Huge dead zones for controllers
- Can't rebind most buttons in game

That is a pretty big list. EA could easily fix all of that considering most of the issues have been fixed by fans already. If you are going to give it away to promote your DRM it should at least be supported a little. Lots of other companies support older titles and keep them working well since they still sell them.

By "AF" do you mean anisotropic filtering, or autofocus? Because if the former, the game doesn't really need it that much (it's really only practical for long distances, which the game has very little of) and I personally hate autofocus.
It's been a while since I've played it, but I don't remember having vsync issues. I likely did at first and just disabled it. I don't remember tearing being an issue, either.
I also don't remember having problems with mouse acceleration - I overall aimed pretty well in the game.
I never used the gamepad so no comment on that.

And yet it so easy to force driver level Vsync and game isnt locked to 30 fps.
So easy to force AA through driver, and same for AF. And driver level AF looks way better in most games then in game AF anyways.
Mouse Accelerations, yea that is a viable complaint.
Dead zones issues for controllers. I dont have that with a 360 controller or using a DS4 on bluetooth on my pc with Dead Space.
Cant rebind most controls, yes that is a stupid issue.

So honestly you are really being a whine bag about the AA, AF, and Vsync.
