Redux might be better but you can't argue with free! :p
While I personally prefer the "redux" edition of both games, there are some people I know which love the Original version. Great stuff!

Having played both versions very recently, I can say without doubt that the original 2033 is FAR SUPERIOR to Redux version, imo. I had it bought at full price on release back in 2010 and replaying it now, I was very surprised on how well it aged. The graphics are still very good, very dark and dreadful atmosphere all around. Also the gameplay is far more complex and HARD, you can't just knife kill everybody from range and the mods for guns are diverse, but you have to adapt for every encounter. Also the AI seems to be smarter, and the fact that some enemies have armored parts like helms or different body pads that ACTUALLY PROVIDE ARMOR is something I miss in game nowadays.
The only thing that Redux has going for it are the character models, that's it. Everything else, from washed out and way too bright environment to dumbed down gameplay (I could basically just throw knives trough a lot of it) and guns is worse.
So yeah... great to have this free opportunity. It still funny how taxing the game can be (but still looks good in accordance to that) on hardware when maxed. I remember the struggle of running it with a GTX 280 (and the replaying with 2x580s). :p
