Gigabyte officially announces GeForce GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING Graphics Card

Gigabyte announced today the GeForce GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING (GV-N1080XTREME-8GD) , the flagship graphics card of the year from the premium XTREME GAMING Series. Driven by the Pascal architecture from NVIDIA, the GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING combines with GIGABYTE’s gaming innovation to deliver monstrous performance ready for next-generation gaming, especially in the arena of virtual reality.

The air-cooled GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING features the brand new WINDFORCE Stack Cooling. This patent-pending design is able to accommodate three 100mm fans without stretching the card length to provide much larger coverage of the heat sink for extreme cooling. Combining with the counter-rotating center fan, the WINDFORCE cooler delivers up to 10% more airflow than conventional triple-fan coolers, while also reducing turbulence to a minimum. The re-engineered sickle fan blades optimize air intake for an overall improvement in thermals by 4%. The new WINDFORCE cooling system also includes 6 composite copper heat pipes that directly contact the GPU for superior cooling capabilities and improved heat transfer efficiency. There are also double ball bearings to ensure the GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING goes the distance. The 3D Active Fan features silent semi-passive fans, allowing gamers to enjoy gameplay in absolute silence when the system is running light or idle. An LED Fan Stop indicator provides a user-friendly, instant display of the fan status.

For gamers seeking an ultimate VR experience, the Premium Pack is the way to go. This special edition comes with a number of premium accessories that help gamers gear up for VR. The Premium Pack includes a 5.25" drive bay with front-facing HDMI and USB3.0 ports, as well as an HDMI extension bracket, for an easier, more convenient VR connection. It also comes with an SLI bridge for a seamless link of multiple XTREME GAMING graphics cards ready to take on any high-demand VR gaming. Other accessories, such as the mouse pad, wrist band, and logo sticker, are included in the Premium Pack to bring gamers a complete XTREME GAMING experience.

The GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING incorporates many gamer-centric features that will make the card a favorite for gamers. Forged with sorted top-notch GPUs, the card guarantees supreme overclocking capability without compromising system reliability. The use of premium-grade chokes and capacitors also ensures ultra durability for a longer system lifespan. The card offers XTREME protection with the thoroughly-applied aerospace-grade PCB coating to make it highly resistant to moisture, dust, and corrosive contaminants. The metal back plate further strengthens the structure while giving the card a sleek, clean look.

In terms of aesthetics, the new X-shaped RGB lights along with the illuminating emblem, spark the XTREME GAMING spirit. Gamers are free to customize with virtually unlimited color options and light effects to make each gaming rig unique and personal. The card is gamer/builder friendly as the PCB is manufactured through fully automated production processes to keep the surface of the circuit board smooth and free of sharp-edges. Any power abnormalities can be easily detected with the smart power LED indicator.

With that third fan being so close behind and being overlapped by the other two , i'm wondering if there won't be turbulence problem?

980Ti Xtreme Gaming looks helluva lot better than this.

I was too eager to bash ASUS Strix. I think that cards looks wonderful compared to this.

But I would wait for a video to see it more in depth(just checked. Found 1 on YT).

I think what I do not like is the middle X LED. I think its too small proportionally.

2 quickly and dirty(dont judge my skill yet :P) pics edited in MS Paint.

Made the X LED longer.

Continues until the four corners and it would have look a lot better imho.
