Gigabyte Announces Its AORUS K9 Based On Optical Switches

When its up-to Gigabyte, they state you may forget about conventional mechanical switches. The optical Flaretech switch is faster and has a longer lifespan than traditional mechanical switches.

AORUS has utilized this technology to craft a stylish, ultra durable performance keyboard that works flawlessly regardless of scenario.

The Flaretech switches offer an unbelieveable debounce time - only 0.03ms, compared to a full 20ms in traditional switches. The near-zero debounce time offers you an in-game advantage and higher precision in movements, thanks to signal processing at the speed of light.

  • 0.03ms Debounce Time - When Speed Matters
  • Ultra Durable - 100 Million Keystrokes
  • Splash proof
  • Swappable Switches - Custom Gaming Experience
  • Chatterproof
  • Exclusive Top-quality Steel Springs
  • Full RGB Backlighting
  • AORUS Engine - You're In Control
  • N-Key Rollover
  • Floating Key Design
  • Braided Cable
  • Cable Management

The K9 Optical comes with a much longer lifespan than traditional mechanical keyboards. Where traditional keyboards offer you switches rated up to 50 million keystrokes, AORUS doubles that - 100 million keystrokes. This is made possible yet again by the use of optical switches that make do without metal that will oxidize and corrode over time.
Harsh, dusty conditions and even rain or liquid spills are no match for the AORUS K9 Optical. Without exposed metal connectors, it is fully splash proof, even enabling use under water.

By utilizing optical Flaretech switches, the K9 eliminates a common problem with mechanical keyboards - chatter. Because it uses fully optical actuation, rather than electromechanical, dust and dirt won't adversely affect your gaming experience by causing chatter.

Pricing and availability has yet to be announced.

yet its really easy to replace mechanical switch, for optical i wonder if its possible as easy as replacing mechanical switch, incase there is failure, it seems we need to replace whole board

speaking of durability, topre mechanical switch that estimated for 50million click.
many people using like 10years and have yet to see it failing
that based old tech, with good quality parts

for the 0.03ms actuations response, not sure if improve for most people
human reflect/response have much delay than keyboard itself... maybe for really small amount of pro-gamer will get benefit from it

but nonetheless good to see keyboard evolving
if proved this optical switch might be the future of keyboard switch
it also can be future switch for many device, like mouse or gaming pad
