Gigabyte Adds X299 DESIGNARE EX Motherboards as well

If you recently read our Threadripper Gigabyte X399 DESIGNARE EX review, hey there's an Intel X299 version out now as well. Performance wise, the X299 DESIGNARE EX motherboard is in a class of its own. It provides full support for the powerful 18-core Intel® i9 7980XE processor

T, the X299 DESIGNARE EX maximizes the effectiveness of its server-grade VRM design with 12 power phases, each supplying up to 60 amps of power. The motherboard has Registered DIMM (RDIMM) support, allowing for uncompromised data integrity and ensuring that users’ ongoing projects are completed without unexpected data errors. The higher density of RDIMMs also makes way for vast RAM capacity.
Content creators will be able to find great use for the abundance of connectivity on the motherboard. The X299 DESIGNARE EX provides full support for Intel® Thunderbolt™ 3 technology and its lightning-quick data transfer speeds via two USB 3.1 Type-C connectors, reducing idle time during data transfers. With data transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, Intel ® Thunderbolt™ 3 technology is an ideal solution for transferring large media files. For the best internet connectivity, the motherboard provides users with the reliability of Dual Intel Gbe LAN and the additional flexibility of Dual Band 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Multiple USB 3.0 and 2.0 connectors are also included for added connectivity.

Effective cooling systems are essential for a motherboard that supports such a powerful processor as well as high-end peripherals so the X299 DESIGNARE EX comes with Smart Fan 5 as the optimal cooling solution. Smart Fan 5 technology’s thermal sensors and fan headers are allocated to some of the most heat sensitive areas on the motherboard preventing overheating from becoming a major issue. Fan Stop technology allows for increased fan efficiency and a more noise friendly working environment.

3-Way NVIDIA® SLI and AMD CrossFire™ support from the motherboard enables the use of multi-graphics configurations for users who are looking to enhance their graphical performance. Rendering performance can also be vastly improved through the use of professional focused graphics cards such as the NVIDIA® Quadro® on these motherboards.

Reliable storage performance is a highly sought after feature for
content creators and there’s no better choice than the X299 DESIGNARE EX motherboard when it comes to storage solutions. The motherboard’s Triple M.2 NVMe PCIe x4 design ensures that its users have the best storage performance with a bandwidth of up to 32 Gb/s and the U.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 adaptor adds to users’ convenience by providing increased storage capacity without the thermal throttling concerns. The motherboard is Intel® VROC ready for the fastest storage performance taking advantage of direct to CPU PCIe lanes.

With such an impressive storage solution, the motherboard also provides added durability with its use of M.2 Thermal Guard to safeguard storage devices and prevent excess heat from affecting storage performance. GIGABYTE motherboards’ emphasis on durability extends to other features such as the board’s DualBios™ Technology as a BIOS recovery option as well as Ultra Durable components. The PCIe and memory slots are reinforced by Ultra Durable armor and the 10K Black™ Solid Caps limit the effect of excess electrostatic charge on the motherboard.

RGB Fusion Technology is the perfect feature for users to show off their unique artistic style. As the most advanced motherboard LED lighting system, RGB Fusion enables users to design lighting configurations and synchronize the lights to their liking. Users can add 5V and 12V LEDs as well as Digital LEDs to emblazon their chassis’ with lighting rings, arrays, or matrices.
