But it's still super fast and beating the RTX 3090 Ti. On the ChipHell forums, someone with access to an RTX 4080 sample and drivers ran it through a battery of synthetic and gaming tests. 3DMark Time Spy, Port Royal, and games such as Forza Horizon 5, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, Cyberpunk 2077, Borderlands 3, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider were used to test the $1,200 MSRP graphics card.

The RTX 4080 is discovered to be roughly halfway between the RTX 3090 Ti and the RTX 4090. At stock settings and in 3DMark Time Spy Extreme (4K), it gets outperformed by the RTX 4090 with ~30%. The results of the game tests tell a slightly different story. The RTX 4090 is only 16% faster than the RTX 4080 in Forza Horizon 5. In CoD MWII, it is also only 8% faster. The RTX 4090, on the other hand, outperforms the RTX 4080 in Shadow of the Tomb Raider (39%) and Cyberpunk 2077 (37%). Given these figures, we expect the RTX 4080 to outperform the previous-generation RTX 3080 (10 GB) and the RTX 3090 Ti quite easily, while following the RTX 4090 with just enough performance to keep a proper distance. You can expect full reviews from us next week.
