GeForce RTX 3080 Ti price, release date (May 26th) surfaces as well as GPU photo (update)

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti price, release date (May 26th) surfaces as well as GPU photo (update)

Pricing of the upcoming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti may have surfaced, according to sources involved the 'Titanium' model will carry an MSRP of roughly 1100 USD; which would be considerably more expensive than the standard RTX 3080 at 699 USD. The GeForce RTX 3090 has an MSRP of 1499 USD. The GPU would become available in May.

The new RTX 3080Ti graphics card is neutered version of the RTX 3090. The shader processors have been reduced from 10496 to 10240, and the graphics memory has become 384-bit wide 12GB GDDR6X particles, which is half of the RTX 3090.

Meanwhile over at VideoCardz the first die picture of GA102-225 silicon has been shown, pretty much looking similar to the GA102-300 SKU of the RTX 3090 card. As stated the GA102-225 would get 10240 shading cores instead of 10752 shading cores found inside GA102-300 of RTX 3090. 12 GB of GDDR6X memory on a 384-bit bus / 19 Gbps speeds means a bandwidth of 912 GB/s. The leak shows that the card has managed a 1365 MHz base and 1665 MHz boost frequency. It somehow WAS tested on ETH mining somehow. RTX 3080 Ti achieves an Ethereum hash rate of 118.9 MH/s, which means that we can forget to see this graphics card in stock, much less so at a reasonable price. NVIDIA was supposed to limit this graph for crypto mining, something that clearly would not be working:

A Taiwanese Nvidia partner mentioned that the RTX 3080 Ti will be released on May 26. The RTX 3070 Ti would follow soon there after;likely in the beginning of June, although there is no exact date. Below the preliminary specs.

Seems a bit pointless for Nvidia to waste the money and effort to create yet another SKU given that they can't manufacture these 3000 series remotely fast enough to meet demand already.

This maybe uses partially failed GA102 chips (3090 dies) but how many of those are there even? Whether that is or isn't the case, at what point does manufacturing these just begin to eat into the manufacturing capacity for the other GPUs? The only thing I can reason is that Nvidia is trying to shift demand from a top tier product that uses a pile of memory (3090, 24gb) to one that uses slightly less (3080ti, 12gb) to give themselves a better profit margin on the cards. But even that doesn't make a lot of sense as it still leaves us with the "rob peter to pay Paul" capacity scenario on the actual GPU cores.

Yeah.... but I feel like scalpers might not be AS interested in these, especially if their mining capabilities are in fact quite neutered compared to the regular cards. Feel like people using their GPU's for ACTUAL GAMING are far less likely to spend out the arse for a video card they don't necessarily NEED as opposed to those who are trying to use them to make more money faster.
