GeForce RTX 3080 20GB Registered at EEC - Coming in December?

GeForce RTX 3080 20GB Registered at EEC - Coming in December?

Yes, no, yes, no ... that's pretty much what the rumor train has been on an RTX 3080 fitted with 20GB VRAM. Face it, there has been chatter on a 20GB model for ages now, but things get serious once they get registered, and that happened once again on the EEC.

Looking at the dates, it cannot be coincidental; a decision was made shortly after AMD released its Radeon RX 6800, prompting NVIDIA to abandon its plans for the 20GB model and also for the 16GB RTX 3070. It's an MSI entry unveiled a 20GB variant for the RTX 3080 at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

MSI could also release a water-cooled series soon, as the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 are listed as Sea Hawk X (with a pre-installed waterblock) and Sea Hawk (with AIO hybrid cooling). Also, the list features the Aero series that will hit high-end GPUs. We will see the arrival of the Gaming, Gaming Trio, Ventus 3x, Ventus 2x, and Twin Fan variants. The listing also features a 6GB model for this GPU, although the RTX 3060 (not Ti) is planned as a 12GB and 6GB variant, so this could be a typo.

Same performance as 3080 but with 20GB and $800 MSRP, but $1000 actual. 3080Ti will have $1000MSRP but be $1200+ actual.

If the rest of the card is exactly the same as the 3080, there will only be performance difference when an application or a game knows how to use the RAM and were kinda bottlenecked with 10GB. So, yeah.

Ti should never have the same amount of memory with non ti. If 3080 ti is bound to happen, that it is then. If not, this will be the only intermediary between 3080 10gb and 3090. Time will tell.
