GeForce RTX 3060 Surfaces in AotS being 19% faster than GeForce RTX 2060

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 is to be launched soon, the first benchmarks of this graphics card started leaking. In Ashes of the Singularity (AotS) software, the RTX 3060 popped up twice and managed to hit 6800 points and 69.9 FPS in its best test, at 1080p resolution with the Crazy preset.

Both tests were carried out by the same user, who accompanied the new GPU with an Intel Core i7-8700K processor, obtaining an average of 6700 points (the other test gave 6600 points and 67 FPS). Thus, for comparison, the GeForce RTX 3060 is 19% faster than its predecessor, the GeForce RTX 2060. In addition, it manages to outperform the RTX 2070 by 9%. GeForce RTX 3060 is based on the GA106 GPU and features 3,584 CUDA cores along with 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit memory interface and power consumption of 170W.

It will be an extremely underwhelming card if it's not at MSRP.

I'm expecting it to be $900 to $1000 AUD seeing as the 2060 is still sitting at an inflated price of around $800.

Realistically this thing should be $350 to $450.

In 2002 the 4600Ti sold for over $AUD 990 (that's over $AUD 1400 adjusted for inflation). The cards are still a lot cheaper than what they used to be.

not good.expected 2070 super. this is like 2070.3060ti is the card to get with 2080 super +2-3% performance.

Yeah, 3060 Ti seems like a far better choice. Not that it'd be an available choice in the current market situation, but in theory.

I saw posts expecting 2070S performance. Of course 1 benchmark is not a benchmark and we can't draw conclusion from that, but IF this is the average difference, that means it is just a bit above the 2070. Even in the last gen, which saw lower performance uplifts than the predecessors, the 2060 was able to match the 1080. Now the 3060 would be just above the 2070. That would be a shame regarding its price.

Are those results quite underwhelming or is it my idea? Can anyone compare that score to 2070 Super / 2080?

Checking the AotS benchmark page, the score that the 3060 got is around 2070 Super tier (high 6000s at 1080p crazy dx12).
The 2060 scores (which are what is being compared to the 3060 in the title) seem to be rather unreliable though, in the benchmark page there's several 2060 scores that are comparable to the 2060 Super (high 5000s).

Apart from the fact that the 4600Ti was the highest end card and these are entry level ones :D But yeah, recently sold my 2060 for more then I payed and felt quite bad about it tbh. I have gone a completely different root until things settle down (if ever)... Mac Mini M1 with Geforce Now for my casual gaming needs is fine... Painfull but fine :D
