GeForce prices on the rise as well due to cryptocurrency mining

GeForce prices on the rise as well due to cryptocurrency mining

Much like the Radeon Rx 400 and 500 series, NVIDIA cards are getting less available as well due to increased interests in mining. Though the price increase is relatively low, some specific GTX 1060 models are going for $20 or $30 more than MSRP, which doesn't seem that bad. The GTX 1070 however increased from $380 to $472, with some going for more than $600.

Searching Newegg for the GeForce GTX 1060 shows only two 3GB versions available, and they're going for $20 to $30 over the card's $200 MSRP. You can find many more 6GB GTX 1060 cards, but they're all selling at wildly increases pricing as well reports pcworld:

The 6GB cards dipped down to $240 or less around the time the Radeon RX 580 launched, but now every model except one sells for $270 to $310—and that lone exception still sells for $260. A similar situation exists on Amazon, with only a single backordered EVGA 3GB GTX 1060 going for anything near MSRP. The GeForce GTX 1070 finds itself in even more dire circumstances. Ostensibly a $380 graphics card, the cheapest one you can find on Newegg right now is $472, and most are going for more than $600. The cheapest GTX 1070 I can find on Amazon costs $450. Do not buy a GTX 1070 at those prices. Many models of the more potent GeForce GTX 1080 still sell for $500, or slightly more for customized versions. Picking that up over a $600 GTX 1070 is a no-brainer for gamers.

Here in the EU the price levels are still fairly normal, but after checking some webshops I can see that prices indeed are slowly increasing ever since a week or two. The above chart is from your average GTX 1060.

This is annoying. Human greed at it's best. Filth. Can't wait for the current crytocurrency bubble to burst.

On PC Case Gear cards are starting to having "Limit 4 per household" for Nvidia cards and "limited 1 per household" for AMD cards.

Every single 570 and 580 is gone... literally everything is gone...

They seriously need to nerf the bitcoin capabilities of the next generation cards and release special crypto mining cards if they to sell on that specific market. The prices are crazy and few stores have stock atm. This is bad. We had the RAM prices double and now the graphics cards. It's nightmare for anyone on a tight budget who wants to do an upgrade now.
