Nvidia's latest professional graphics card, the RTX 6000 Ada, is packed with more computing power than its flagship gaming board, the GeForce RTX 4090. However, when put to the test in the 3DMark TimeSpy Graphics benchmark, the RTX 6000 Ada was unable to beat its gaming counterpart.

Despite being equipped with 18,176 CUDA cores on its AD102 GPU, the RTX 6000 Ada only scored 30,158 points in the benchmark after a recent Windows update, as compared to the GeForce RTX 4090's score of 40,964 points. According to a Reddit post, the RTX 6000 Ada's Graphics score was 36,844 points before the Windows update. The reason for the lower score could be attributed to the lower GPU clocks, which dropped from 3+ GHz to around 1.5 GHz during the test. However, the individual who posted the score stated that the board did not overheat, implying that the clocks were dropped to ensure the longevity of the RTX 6000 Ada.

The RTX 6000 Ada's professional status limits its performance, with a total board power of only 300W, compared to the GeForce RTX 4090's consumption of 450W. This difference in power consumption allows the GeForce RTX 4090 to run at high clocks for a longer period of time.
