GeForce GTX 780 Ti Photo and Benchmarks Surface In Asia

That one website, yep .. ChipHell has a forum post where initial benchmarks of the GeForce GTX 780 Ti have surfaced. There are some photo's included as well, showing a fairly similar PCB and board design towards the GTX 780 and Titan. ChipHell posted five sets of benchmark results including 3DMark tests, Unigine Valley, Aliens vs. Predator 3, Battlefield 3, and Bioshock: Infinite.

The test setup used was a test-bed running Core i7-4960X at 4.50 GHz with  16 GB of quad-channel DDR3-2933 MHz memory. Click the thumbs, photo's and benchmarks are courtesy of Chiphell.

Its not 30% faster, Nvidia had the 290x run in quiet mode to make their 780 Ti look much better than it is, as the article states, as in quiet mode, it throttles to a much lower speed than it does in Uber, its only those absolute rubbish ref coolers that are letting them down, which is why im waiting for the customs, as the Ti won't look so great when the 290s come with their proper coolers.

AMD need to change those blowers, they are in desperate need of a change now, they've had those crap things for far to long, just imagine what a new cooler would do for them, if they say done something like the Titan cooler, and just whacked about £20/£30 extra on the price, would do them bloody wonders, i bet sales are being held back quite a bit because of those crap things, be loads of people waiting for the custom cooled.

The 290x does not throttle more in quiet mode it does not boost to 1000Mhz it just sits at 800Mhz iirc. What does it matter the 290x in über mode only has 1000Mhz for the first 10 minuets of your gaming session. After that it will throttle down to as low as 600Mhz. Running it in quiet mode probably nets the most consistent numbers (until 3rd party coolers are available).

I hated my GTX 780 being capped at 80 C by default so I use a custom profile that keeps 98% of my games below 70 C and the other 2 C at 75 C max. Noise isn't an issue either as the cooler is terrific on the GTX 780. I'm not sure I'd want a graphics card that is capped at 95 C myself and as you say after 10 minutes of playing a game the card will underclock itself to keep at that level, coincidentally the length of time that many of these benchmark/demo tests last for reviews. I doubt any of the reviewers play each game for several hours as we would do.

780TI
stock clock boosted to 1020mhz and check temps 84C @ 60% fan, not bad.

Although it didnt OC so well, by 1050mhz hit 80C mark and throttled.

Apparently this chiphell user didnt adjust power or temp. limit,.

Edit:
Slight power redesign, more power efficient
