A fresh Geekbench 5 score for Intel's forthcoming Core i9-13900HX Raptor Lake CPU was leaked by @BenchLeaks on Twitter. The desktop Core i9-12900K the last gen Intel top CPU, but if this mobile processor can match or outperform it at stock rates, it will be a monster. This will be the fastest mobile chip Intel has ever produced when it finally hits the market.

The 13900HX has been measured by Geekbench to have 24 cores, 32 threads, and 36MB of L3 cache. Based on the core and thread counts, it appears to be configured similarly to its larger sibling, the i9-13900K, which has eight P-cores and sixteen E-cores. The 13900HX's ability to outperform the desktop 12900K in Geekbench's multi-core benchmark is largely attributable to this significant improvement over the i9-8P+8E 12900HX's architecture. Additional improvements, such as increased clock speeds, are also a part of Raptor Lake.We do not know the exact power requirements or maximum clock speeds, but we anticipate them to be comparable to the 12900HX(opens in new tab), which supported a maximum boost of 5GHz and a maximum turbo power rating of 157W, in addition to a base processor power of 55W. This sample of the 13900HX achieved a single-core score of 2,039 and a multi-core score of 20,943. Both the single-core and multi-core results for the 13900HX are 2.6% and 20.9% quicker, respectively, than the reference i9-12900K result of 1,987 and 17,319 on Geekbench 5.

Although the Intel Core i9-12900KS Special Edition outperforms the 13900HX in the single-core benchmark, it only does so by a little margin. Only the Core i7-13700Geekbench K's results show any sign of being significantly faster. The mobile Ryzen alternatives from AMD can not compete with what Intel has to offer, either. The Ryzen 9 6900HX found in the Lenovo 82UH laptop achieved one of the best single-core and multi-core results for a Ryzen mobile device to date, with 1,638 and 10,200 points, respectively, in Geekbench 5. Until AMD releases its Ryzen 7000 mobile processors, there will not be much competition in the portable computer market.

Laptops powered by Intel's i9-13900HX processor will soon be available. Raptor Lake mobile will be released prior to 2023, Intel has announced. In all likelihood, though, Raptor Lake mobile products will not debut until CES 2023 or later.
