Microsoft Flight Simulator to launch beta version with Virtual Reality support

Microsoft Flight Simulator to launch beta version with Virtual Reality support

Microsoft confirmed the wish of many fans with its flight simulator: The game (or simulator) will receive a version for virtual reality soon. The news was discussed live on the Flight Simulator channel , in which the developers answered recurring questions from the community.

Community speculation about a version of VR after the Flight Simulator announcement was the reason Asobo Studio started working to support that functionality.

Microsoft Flight Simulator head Jorg Neumann explained that the team has been working on VR support for over a year, but now wants feedback from players, something that will be provided through a closed beta.

The closed beta is scheduled to begin in late October or early November, starting with Windows Mixed Reality and expanding to other devices later.

To access the beta version, you will need to sign up for the Microsoft Flight Simulator Insider program and submit your DxDiag, the instructions for which can be found on the official website , and of course you will need some WMR helmets.

Honestly I'm a little surprised they didn't include support from the first day. Seems like an obvious feature to me.

Nothing to do with being useful or obvious. This is to keep people on XBox subscription. Same reason Disney don't dump three seasons of The Mandelorian on Disney+ on day one ;)

They had better have much improved multi core support or it will be an even worse slide show, and that wont sit well with VR.
So I think it will have much better multi threading, about time.

Although frame doubling might work well because lag doesnt matter much with FS2020.
But I'm not sure how many VR sets will have this.
