Flight Simulator 2020 is expected to generate 3 billion in PC hardware sales
Have you checked flight-sim compatible joysticks in your online store already? Chances are there it's all sold out. None the less Microsoft released Flight Simulator 2020, which is impressing users with its realistic graphics but offers slow framerates.
The challenge of running the game in high quality should stimulate hardware sales and move around $3 billion worth of hardware in three years, according to market research firm Jon Peddie Research (JPR). The company made an estimate of how players will spend to run the game based on different user-profiles and also on the possibilities offered by the simulator. According to JPR, simulation enthusiasts tend to spend more and so the movement of money around the new Flight Simulator should be impressive.
Over the next three years, the company predicts that approximately $ 2.6 billion will be spent on specific hardware to run Flight Simulator to enhance the gaming experience. The bet takes into account the game's estimated sales of 2.7 million units of the simulator in the same period.
The company notes, however, that the value moved by Flight Simulator should be even higher over the entire product lifecycle. JPR also does not consider the numbers of the Xbox Game Pass, a PC subscription service. According to Ted Pollak, analyst at JPR, the reason for so much investment in Flight Simulator with the requirements of the simulator, where we will need a more powerful PC.
In addition to the fact that the basic components of PCs have to be more powerful and consequently more expensive, the company analyst also takes into account the additional hardware. According to Pollak, simulation enthusiasts often invest in additional equipment, including monitors and other devices, to ensure a more immersive experience.
The owner of the YouTube channel Flight Sim Pilot , for example, spent more than $ 7,350 to transform part of his home into an airplane cabin. In addition to needing two computers, the enthusiast uses multiple monitors and televisions, dedicated controls, and even 3D-printed parts to ensure greater immersion.
Flight Simulator 2020 can be purchased in the Microsoft Store and Steam for a price of 3999 pesos for the standard version. Check below the minimum and recommended requirements to run the flight simulator on your computer. You can read up our comprehensive performance report right here at Guru3D.

If I'm correct this game only uses 4 cores/thread well the rest are doing nearly nothing.CPU scaling is a joke in this title.
Will there be again new 4 core CPU with higher boost frequency and higher IPC?I've thought we have left these behind finally.
Right now RTX 2080 Ti is the king of the hill, would Ampere give us at least +100% performance compare to Turing?Because right now we are looking at at least double the performance to get this DX11 thingy usable.
What sort of new hardware should we get for it exactly?
First of I would implement DX12+DLSS+better and more thread use as a start after we can talk about new hardware

Needing $2500 of hardware to achive 60 FPS maxed out 1080p...
Yeah, that's going to sell well.

Playing devil's advocate here, but wasn't crysis the same back in the day?
But in all seriousness this does seem like an insanely un-optimised game. It is insane that the top card can't hit 60fps at 1080p, at 4k I can get it but yeah just seems a bit of a mess sadly in that department.
I'm a bit confused about the streaming part? Why can't you just download the game as it is in the images? Sure it might add another 100gb, but be nice to have a choice for those with slow Internet speed. I know you can have an offline mode but side by side the places do look quite different

is not that DLSS is useful here. DLSS is useful only when msaa is the bottleneck.
The game is heavy and probably need a different engine. People buying 3090 level of hardware to stay at 60fps are really few and won't reach the 2.7 bilion of dollars.
Also i bet it sold 2.7m copies, including game passes, meaning that is not all sims enthusiasts ready to update the pc for it.
More likely they will try it again when they buy a new pc for other reasons.

microsoft level optimism here. If everyone bought the game here need to spend an extra 1000$ on hardware, is a giant fail.
