Game publisher 2K announces new BioShock game

Game publisher 2K announces new BioShock game

Right, this one slipped though, Publisher 2K announced on Monday to work on a new game in the popular BioShock series. The game is made by Cloud Chamber, a newly created studio especially for the new BioShock game.

The announcement comes more than six years after the last game in the three-part game series. Much is not yet known about the new BioShock game, except that the studio has now started producing it. The production will take at least a few years.

Cloud Chamber is 2K's newest studio that is completely owned by the publisher. The studio becomes active in the United States and Canada and has said it has attracted many game makers who have also worked on the original BioShock games. The first BioShock game, a classic shooting game that takes a critical look at extreme capitalism, was released in 2007. A direct successor followed three years later.

BioShock Infinite , the third part in the series, was released in 2013. Themes such as oppression and Americanism were discussed in the game. The series was particularly popular, but the original maker Irrational Games stopped the development of new parts after Infinite . The rights of BioShock remained in the hands of Irrational owner 2K Games.

“As we continue growing our product portfolio, we remain inspired by opportunities to invest further in our valuable IP, great people and their collective, long-term potential,” said David Ismailer, President of 2K. “BioShock is one of the most beloved, critically praised and highest-rated franchises of the last console generation*. We can’t wait to see where its powerful narrative and iconic, first-person shooter gameplay head in the future with our new studio team at Cloud Chamber leading the charge.”

After the third part I'm gonna pass. also for sure it will be bloated with ''microtransactions' (or more like ''macrotransactions'' lol) if even it will be SP game at all...

I haven't tried Infinity and I'm really hesitant to get it. The first game was so highly praised, but, the twist at the end doesn't make up for what I found to be more of a chore and annoying experience than fun. So, it's hard for me to decide if I should even bother with Infinity, if that has was perceived though the same rose-tinted glasses.

All that being said, I'm even more hesitant about this new game, since it really seems to scream "cash grab".
