GALAX unveils the GeForce RTX 3060 Metaltop Mini graphics cards

GALAX unveils the GeForce RTX 3060 Metaltop Mini graphics cards

The GALAXY RTX 3060 Metaltop Mini [FG] is a graphics card that is based on the latest GA106-302 GPU, also known as the RTX 3060 LHR SKU, which is based on the latest GA106-302 GPU. The FG abbreviation stands for 'For Gamers,' which is essentially what GALAX believes will deter crypto-miners from purchasing these cards.

The RTX 3060 Metaltop is only 16.8 cm in length, 11.5 cm in width, and 4 cm in height, making it a very compact device. Despite the fact that it has a single fan, the card features 0dB technology, which means that the fan will be switched off when the card is not under heavy demand. Technically, this would be an excellent graphics card for a Home Theather PC, thanks to its massive 12GB GDDR6 memory and near-silent performance. The RTX 3060 Metaltop Mini FG is not factory overclocked, and this is a good thing. The card has a default boost clock of 1777 MHz, and unlike the Colorful's variant, there is no OC-button to enable overclocking. Galax has confirmed that the card will be available for purchase through the company's online store in the near future.

Because the announcement came from Galax China, it is unclear whether or not the business intends to sell this model in other parts of the world.

i hope "metal" is only for the color and not for the material...

So it keep the heat on the card due to heat properties of the material...
It's like when in car tuning, people use metalic tube for air induction... It's cute but it's worse than plastic.

Metal is a good heat conductor, meaning it's a poor insulator. It would depend on the surface treatment of the inside. If it's polished metal, it would reflect infrared, returning it back to the card. That would be suboptimal. But you don't actually see it in the photos. Also, I have no idea how big of a difference it would make in practice. After all, below the shroud, you would have the heat sink, anyway, and its function is to transfer heat to the air stream generated by the fan. So, getting rid of heat by passive radiation is a secondary function in any case. Maybe a polished shroud would lower the threshold of switching from passive to active cooling? Assuming such a tiny graphics card can even sustain passive cooling.
