It seems half the gaming mice available use that 8200 DPI Avago 9800 sensor, and any of them that list their switch type list Omron. I wonder why it's so popular among manufacturers. Are there not many options? Is it just cheaper than the others? It does supposedly have issues like acceleration, but I have a mouse with that sensor, any acceleration is minimal. I've literally seen $30 mice on Amazon from unheard of brands that use the Avago 9800 + Omron switches.
Edit: How about a $15 one? - http://www.amazon.com/Perixx-MX-3000R-Programmable-Gaming-Laser/dp/B00CUBT06W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1443058164&sr=8-3&keywords=Avago+9800+Omron

I'm mostly interested in knowing how much the thumb rest helps, for my next mouse I want to get one which holds as much of the hand as possible.

Another huge brick shaped mouse, awesome....
There's a reason why mice like the Deathadder are so popular and it's because of the excellent easy to hold rounded shape. What I want is a smaller Deathadder, similar in size to a Zowie ec2 with adjustable weight etc. Rant over. ;p

Sweet. I was actually just looking at getting a new mouse soon.. I have a R.A.T 7 thats afew years old. Love the way the mouse feels and my next mouse has to have the thumb "holder". Id keep my current one but it has a bug where every time i restart my PC i have to unplug the usb and plug it back in... Gone through hours of trying to fix this problem and even moving from windows 7 to windows 8.1 didnt solve this problem. Either did moving from my old amd rig to my intel system...
I was going to pull the trigger on the evga torq x10 carbon (even though it has no thumb rest). But now this. I might actually give it a try... Plus the price is pretty dang good.
