First Alleged Benchmark Results GeForce RTX 3080 Surface

Over in Asia a data-set for benchmarks the GeForce RTX 3080 has leaked online. The results are not 100% clear but would be based on the card paired with a system based on a Core i9 10900K processor.

The results have been posted in a video so the charts and data look aa little fuzzy. The tests would have been run with a  456.16 driver. The RTX 3080 would be 30% faster than a 2080 Ti. The set was spotted by videocardz who posted this first. They also mention that this channel where all this was posted has already been caught using fake review samples and publishing a review earlier (they hid the name of the Ryzen processor). This time leakers do not show any review sample, so we cannot confirm if they actually tested the card or have done a bit of 'guestimation'

3DMark Results:

  • 3DMark Fire Strike Performance: 31919  (+25% 2080Ti, +43% 2080S )
  • 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme: 20101  (+24% 2080Ti, +45% 2080S )
  • 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra: 11049 (+36% 2080Ti, +64% 2080S )
  • 3DMark Fire Strike Time Spy: 17428 (+28% 2080Ti, +49% 2080S )
  • 3DMark Fire Strike Time Spy Extreme: 8548 (+38% 2080Ti, +59% 2080S )
  • 3DMark Fire Strike Port Royal: 11455 (+45% 2080Ti, +64% 2080S )

4K in-game benchmarks. The card appears to be 48 to 62% faster than RTX 2080 SUPER:

  • Far Cry 5 +62%
  • Borderland 3 +56%
  • AC Odyssey +48%
  • Forza Horizon 4 +48%

What will be even better.... the miner's are going to buy up all of these 3080s and it is going to end up being that Big Navi is going to be far better for mining for less money. They are then going to flood the used market with the 3080s that have their warranties voided (no one covers cards that have been used for mining; it sets a flag in the bios that cannot be altered - right once memory) and they will not be able to move them. It would serve them right. I do not care as I have a 3080 coming in a few weeks as a warranty replacement for a failed card; I already have the RMA confirmation and tracking info (aka the label has been created).

Those were the nVidia marketing rumours weren't they? Like the ones they paid Digital Foundry to put out?

These new ones look to be about right to me - i.e. somewhere between 25-40% uplift from 2080ti

Time Spy is showing 38% so that would be accurate. Maybe those higher margins would be only with rt and dlss enbaled.

Wasnt the 3070 equal to the 2080ti and the 3080 was suppose to be twice as fast? by this i would even assume the 3090 wont even reach twice as fast.

Who cares? Cryptominers are going to AGAIN buy all the cards up. There is already photos coming out of Taiwan of people with literal boxes full of them...not even released yet...?????? What BS....

I'd say maybe no for a little bit at least.

I remember when the 1080ti dropped and it was complete crap for mining for about 4-6 months as the mining algorithm wasn't optimized to utilize GDDR5X like it was for the 1070s GDDR5.

I'd say the same should apply to GDDR6X. Now the 3070 on the other hand with just GDDR6, this could be a good seller, but the top end cards should hopefully be left alone for a little bit...
