Finally: Windows 11 is available. Windows 10 PC updates begin progressively (download info here)
As previously announced, Microsoft today formally unveiled the latest operating system, dubbed "Windows 11." Updates for Windows 10 PCs that fulfill the system requirements will be supplied for free, while Windows 11 PCs will be available for purchase starting immediately.
If and when it becomes feasible to upgrade to "Windows 11," Windows Update will notify users of their PCs, and the "Check for updates" feature of Windows Update can be used to check for updates on an arbitrary basis. In the event that you decide to upgrade, you will be offered with download and installation alternatives. By the middle of 2022, updates will be accessible for all Windows 10 devices.
Furthermore, updates via Windows Update will be offered in a sequential manner according to the system, and even if you have verified that your system is compatible with the PC health check application, the download option may not be presented. When there is a problem, such as incompatibility between installed programs, it is possible that the update will not be supplied until the problem is rectified.
Additionally, the Microsoft-provided link makes it easy to download the "Windows 11" operating system. In addition to the "Windows 11 Installation Assistant," you can choose from a variety of media creation tools and download ISO images from the appropriate page.

Why was it a "mess" sure there are things I'd like changing but overall it was a fine OS.

That's just how it is for some people. Before that it was Win7 that was a mess, before that it was Vista, before that it was XP and so on all the way back. All of it was horrid and they'd never upgrade.
