F@H Updates

It has been a pretty exciting month for the F@H Project. An updated V7 client has been released, F@H has reached a new milestone in it's performance, you can now donate Bitcoins to F@H, new advancement made and a new team member has joined the F@H Team. Further details are a click away...

The latest F@H application is V7.4.4 and is supported on Windows, Linux and OSX. A redesigned Web Control is available in this release which makes it very easy to look at your system's contribution. Moreover, F@H enthusiasts can use the Advanced Control (AKA FAHControl) to monitor and manage their folding farm from a single computer. Also, the PPD calculation in this release is modified to accurately predict  the amount of points your system is generating. Given that GPUs are popular, the new client supports a back-up GPU Assignment Server in case the Primary one isn't available. There are a number of bug fixes and various other enhancements. If you want, you can view the change log in this thread.

On 21st March 2014, F@H reached a new milestone by crossing the 40 PetaFLOPs barrier! That is an incredible achievement which is possible through the efforts of dedicated folders! Moreover, new donors can join by using the latest V7 application which is very simple to install and configure. Within 5 minutes, you are folding and helping scientists uncover the mysteries of protein folding and fight diseases. If don't have a high-end system, you aren't left behind since you can use the Folding App which is only one click away from you joining the F@H community. Do remember that you can join the Guru3D Team by using our Team Number 69411 and being part of the Guru3D Folders!

With respect to the research being done, F@H has made an important advancement in the models of physical interaction of protein atoms. You can read the details in this post. Moreover,  F@H has published a paper in Nature Communications where F@H simulations were used to understand a key protein target in cancer, especially to find new methods to target it for novel drug design. You can read more about it in this post.

From the post, "Donors have often asked us for other ways to donate and we wanted to give a heads up on a new way to do so. You can now help support Folding@home by donating Bitcoins." Thus, those interested in donating Bitcoins, can visit the aforementioned link.

Finally, there was long standing request from the donors to have a donor relations personal who could facilitate the communication between the researchers and donors. This request is now fulfilled by Ms. Jingcheng Wu who has joined the F@H Team and will help with the communication exchange along with explaining the technical stuff in a non-technical manner which can be understood by the donors. You can read more details of Ms. Wu in this post.

Remember be a true Guru and join the F@H Project, Guru3D Team Number 69411
