Far Cry 4 Announced

 Far Cry 4 Announced

Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 4 will ship November 18th for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. There are very few details at the moment, and no screenshots or videos – just the packshot. Ubisoft are waiting until E3 next month to show the game off properly.

The following is the only description of the game so far released:

Pack away your tropical gear, because Far Cry 4 is heading to the Himalayas.

Announced today, Far Cry 4 will release this year on November 18 in the US and November 20 in EMEA territories. The game will be available on both generations of consoles - PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 - along with Windows PC.

Taking a sharp turn away from the lush island jungles of the top-rated Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4 is set in Kyrat, an untamed region currently ruled by a despotic self-appointed king. But don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the achingly beautiful views; Kyrat is a wild land full of perils. Once again, players will be able to craft their own stories as they travel through this exotic open world teeming with wildlife – using their wits along with an assortment of powerful weapons and diverse vehicles.

"Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans' expectations," said Dan Hay, Executive Producer. "Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we're eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months."

Development on Far Cry 4 is being led by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Kiev.

Agree IMO FarCry 3 was the best FPS made since Doom.

I'd say one of the best, but not the best. I had a few complaints about the game:
* It was WAY too easy to come across money and ammo. I bought just about everything there was in the game simply because I could, and I only got maybe 1/3 of the total treasures in the game. I would deliberately leave items behind because I mad enough money just looting boxes or doing side quests.
* Not enough of the map was put to good use. There's a solid 1/4 of the map you don't ever HAVE to go into. I discovered everything and conquered every outpost anyway.
* There's a glitch in the skill system where you can't always unlock everything.
* Bows were uselessly slow, weak, and short-range. The silence helped, but only if you had 100% accuracy, which was hard considering their range. You'd make better progress distracting someone with a rock and knifing them.
* Many skills and syringes either made the game too easy or were so situational that there were maybe only 1 or 2 uses for them where if you missed the opportunity they were basically a waste.

I intend to play the game on a harder difficulty, next time, so hopefully that'll help make the game more challenging.

Anyway to me, if Prey was a longer game, that would easily be my favorite FPS. That game was packed full of innovation. My only complaints were the game's short length, poor multiplayer, and basically invincibility.

^I played fc3 from start to finnish on hard difficulty on the second playthrough and it was still easy, and i´m not even that good. I suggest you try the hardest difficulty.

UBIsoft has my respect again after Rayman and FC3 + Blood Dragon. They're doing quite well now.

Far Cry 3 and Ubisoft games in general as of late are technically proficient (if not optimized) but completely lack soul and substance. Kind of like music produced by a machine.

Even if you're not into jazz, you may recognize this song from GTA4. :)
