Ever wondered what your CPU is doing when the Epic Game launcher is running in the background. In fact, with Ryzen processors, it apparently can increase your proc temp by a whopping 20 Degrees C.



Yeah, there's a bug in the Epic game launcher responsible for going rogue on Ryzen processors that should just IDLE. The good news is though, it's discovered, known, and will be fixed soon. The observation got posted on Reddit where wild theories popped up, like the application was using users' PCs to mine cryptocurrencies or used even as malware. The application used 10 to 20% CPU utilization in idle.

Sergiy Galyonkin, the developer of the Epic Games application, was the one who confirmed that his team has already identified the problem and that they are implementing a solution that they are currently testing. At the moment it is unknown when the patch will be released for all users, but it is expected to be soon. Until then. close the game launcher manually.

Update: the patch is out now. The 11.02 launcher will update itself. As promised by Sergiy Galyonkin, developer of the Epic Games application, the 11.0.2 update is now available that fixes the CPU usage problem that was affecting both AMD and Intel users.
