EA Announces New Battlefield 1 Revolution Competitive Mode

Huge 64-player battles are a hallmark for the Battlefield franchise, a new mode for Battlefield 1 will focus on war at a much smaller scale. That new mode, Incursions, will introduce 5v5 battles to Battlefield 1 starting in September and is “optimized for competition,” EA said.

Electronic Arts and DICE announced Battlefield 1 Incursions at Gamescom 2017 today. The mode will be a competitive, team-based battle featuring infantry and vehicles. Players will be able to choose from one of eight character kits (Trench Surgeon, Control Leader, AT Assault, Battle Mechanic, Mortar Support, Raid Leader, Shock Assault, Proximity Recon) in Incursions mode. A closed alpha test for Battlefield 1 Incursions will go live in September. Battlefield 1 Revolution is available now on PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Origin and Xbox One.

Revolutionize Your Play - Battlefield 1 Revolution is the complete Battlefield 1 experience, including base game, Premium Pass, and more. Experience dynamic team-based multiplayer battles and epic single-player War Stories across Europe and beyond. In September, the battles comes to the largest front of World War I in the most extensive Battlefield expansion so far, Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar.

This game is nowhere near balanced enough (from several perspectives) to the point where it could be a serious competitive game... I guess the player base really did get a massive hit since I last played.

Longtime lurker, first time poster :P

Decided to sign up on the forums to post this for anyone else - I saw this on reddit today shortly after seeing the news here about the competitive mode. Possible anti-cheat coming to BF1 (reddit link), looks like the alpha TOS for the competitive mode hint at a new in-house anti-cheat from EA/DICE. Fingers crossed that this is inbound for vanilla / "normal" BF1. The widespread hacking has pretty much killed public multiplayer in this game, here's hoping EA/DICE release this in time to breathe some life back into the game.

Well put together trailer. But yeah, the game is very COD like now I bought it only just recently, bit underwhelmed :( Liked BF3 and 4 better. Maybe I'm just worn out on battlefield lol

For competitive they need to drastically minimize map size, remove vehicles and balance it for infantry.

Still better than COD.
