EA and DICE announce Battlefield as in World War I (+ release trailer)

EA and DICE  announced Battlefield 1 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The game takes place in World War I and thus , Battlefield 1 returns the pure nature of warfare.

It was the real world origins for many of the elements that now make up the pillars of the Battlefield gameplay, including the land-air-sea foundations established by Battlefield 1942.

The title was leaked earlier this morning by retailer posters, which reveals pre-orders will include the “Harlem Hellfighters” DLC pack, referring to the United States 369th Infantry Regiment consisting of African-Americans and African-Puerto Ricans (historically notable as being the first African-Americans to serve with the American Expeditionary Forces).

It features a range of iconic WWI vehicles, including biplanes, warships and horses. There’s also a new melee system, to encourage more hand-to-hand combat, to accurately represent the era.

Battlefield 1 will be released worldwide on October 21, 2016. Players who buy the Early Enlister Edition (we’re still waiting on a local price) will be able to play three days early, from October 18. It will also be available early to players with EA Access on Xbox One and PC.

Discover classic Battlefield gameplay with epic multiplayer and an adventure-filled campaign. Experience the Dawn of All-Out War, Only in Battlefield 1.

WMD's to deal with as well by the look of it too. Biological and chemical weapons were used a lot.

Cautiously optimistic about this one. Could be good, and there are so many opportunities for interesting combat (this was the war where the old things of war from the 1800s met with the newer tech of the early 1900's). Chemicals, tanks, and trench warfare. And so many guns!

Dead horses everywhere and fully destructible maps that will resemble the moon at the end of a round. Ever took cover behind a dead horse?.

No. Tell us about it.
