EA admits 3D is no winner

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/02/2011 10:43 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Games publisher Electronic Arts announced it hasn't seen enough interest in 3D gaming to warrant continued investment in this type of games:

The comment came from EA boss John Riccitiello, who told GI.biz that the company had seen 'really high returns in [social gaming] and very poor returns focusing on 3D.'

'Frankly we have not seen a big uptake for 3D gaming,' said Riccitiello. 'We have not seen a big uptake in 3DTVs in the home, at least not yet. We are not here trying to drive a market. We are here to react to what consumers are looking for.'
